NM 30 AND KM 32: THE LEADING CATALYSTS

Sodium methylate solution 30 percent in methanol: NM 30, is the leading component in the transesterification of vegetable oils.

Some two thirds of large plants (with capacities of 50,000 to 300,000 mt/y) are designed for this catalyst. And the trend is growing.

In particular, for basic oils with an FFA (free fatty acids) content of higher than 1.0 percent - such as recycled cooking oils or animal fats - Evonik offers a potassium methylate solution of 32 percent in methanol (KM 32).

Both catalysts can be used in anhydrous production processes and can be used in a closed circuit directly from the storage tank without any additional intermediary steps.

This reduces handling risks to an absolute minimum.
